Area of Immediate Attention

This area attends to different requests for intervention that arrive at the Center, about cases and problems in the State of Chiapas, to prevent or stop in an immediate manner possible human rights violations that risk the life, physical integrity, or other irreparable damages to individuals or groups. This is done through administrative, political, or judicial tools relevant to each case. In addition, this area coordinates and carries out the appropriate management of denunciations, requests for support, etc., that are handled from this space.

Area of Documentation

This area investigates and documents alleged human rights violations (of the subjects prioritized by Frayba), and it also facilitates timely access to pertinent information at an institutional level to allow the prevention or end to human rights violations and irreparable damages. In addition, it defines long-term intervention strategies and presses for restitution of rights.

Area of Legal Advice and Legal Defense

This is the area responsible for providing legal advice in relevant cases. It assumes legal representation in cases where people or groups have had their human rights violated in order for their cases to be litigated in national or international instances, according to high-priority institutional subjects, to contribute to the realization of their right to justice and to influence structural changes that allow for respect and protection of human rights.

Area of Processing Data and Statistics

This area is in charge of processing and interpreting data on human rights generated by Frayba and other sources, to facilitate the analysis of the human rights situation in Chiapas and to contribute to the institutional position. It also develops public and internal reports that give information on the human rights situation.

Area of Social Communication

This area supports the image, action, mission, and vision of the Center. It organizes and enacts the social communication strategy — the relationship with mass media and other subjects of interest to the institution — in order to position human rights topics in the scope of public awareness as well as to generate information dissemination products about our work and products of popular education and information for indigenous populations.
It publicly denounces violations to human rights that take place in the state and generates public debate on human right topics and on solidarity with victims of human rights violations.

Area of Solidarity Promotion

This is the area responsible for the monitoring of actors and of effects of the armed conflict, through diverse instruments of documentation, and through accompaniment and systematic observation in communities at risk of suffering aggressions and human rights violations because of the armed conflict. This area promotes solidarity with civil society and local processes, in order to analyze the evolution of the conflict and to decide on intervention actions; it also disseminates information on the circumstances that continue the conflict in Chiapas and promotes actions of solidarity with national and international civil organizations. This area also seeks to dissuade potential aggressions in threatened communities, through the presence of national and international observers.

Area of Support for Strengthening Social Processes

This area is responsible for developing relationships and support for the strengthening of social processes, stemming from demands for human rights, to bring about the reinforcement of communities and their processes, contributing elements and tools of human rights to their struggles.

Area of Administration

This is the area responsible for management and proper use of the human, material, and financial resources of Frayba, to contribute to the realization of Frayba objectives and institutional development.

Team of Conduct

This is a process of collegial direction where decisions are made by directive committee, to orient and to facilitate the team to the development of our project, from decisions related to the political direction of the Center to vision and institutional positioning, and of efficient operation of the institution which gives viability to the institutional Project.

Direction

This is a medium of representation and political decision-making at the Center, which through the Directive Council assumes responsibility for organizing and guiding institutional intervention, on the basis of the mission and institutional project, to guide and to carry out the aims of the project. Together with the team at the Center, it seeks to achieve fulfillment of the objectives, mission, and directives of the Directive Council.

Defense Deputy Director

Has the mandate to coordinate the departments related to direct intervention with victims a local actors and organizations: Immediate Attention Department, Support for the Strengthening of Social Processes Department and Legal Defense and Advisory Department. This coordination allows a better intervention to prevent human rights violations and for the empowerment of local actors.

Advocacy Deputy Director

Has the mandate to coordinate the departments related with information management and investigation: Documentations Department, Social Communication Department, Solidarity Department and Data and Statistics Department. This coordination gives efficiency and precision to information.
