Today, August 30th 2011, we announce the release of our 2010 Report, “The Earth's pulse beats along the paths of resistance,” in which we address the current situation of human rights, processes of comprehensive rights defense, and the exercise of rights during the period of April 2010 to March 2011.
Today, we here at Frayba join with the National March, expressing our indignation and condemnation of the violence that is experienced day after day in our communities all across Mexico. This violence is due to the implementation of the failed policies of the “war on organized crime,” a war declared by President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, endorsed by the legislative branch, and legalized by the judicial branch.
This Human Rights Center considers unacceptable the violence exercised by the group known as “non-cooperatives,” lead by the “Army of God, Eagles' Wings” against adherents to The Other Campaign in the community of Mitzitón, San Cristóbal de Las Casas (SCLC), Chiapas; this violence was carried out in the presence of state officials and left two people with serious injuries.
