This Human Rights Center expresses its outrage at the inadequate performance of the Mexican state in providing medical care to the political prisoner Alberto Patishtán Gomez (hereinafter Patishtán), who for several years has been reporting his poor state of health, and the lack of interest of the Mexican State in treating him, which has resulted in Patishtán gradually losing his eyesight.

The undersigned domestic and international organizations, groups, collectives, and individuals join in the dignified struggle maintained by Professor Alberto Patishtán Gómez and we demand his immediate release.

The Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas Human Rights Center (Frayba) announces the release of David Potenciano Torres (henceforth David), arbitrarily deprived of his liberty and subjected to torture by authorities of the Specialized Attorney Against Organized Crime on May 25th 2011 so that he would confess to the murder of rancher Pedro Fonz Ramos.

This Human Rights Center has information that allow to conclude that instances of the Government of the State of Chiapas (Mexico) makes use of direct and indirect methods to restrict freedom of speech and information, as well as harassment of the journalist Antony Flores Merida (Antony in the following), reporter and creator of the http://www.infochiapas.com Website, which he manages and shares in social networks through Twitter and Facebook, in which information has been published which, due to its professionalism, is shared by independent journalists in Chiapas.

An employee of the Human Rights Center Fray Bartolome de Las Casas (Frayba) was brutally attacked on September 18th. The attack occurred in Ejido Jotola, in the municipality of Chilon. The attackers were armed and are members of OPDDIC – the Organization for the Defense of the Rights of Indigenous and Campesinos.
